How to Adjust Your Loupes

Loupes are a funny thing. They are a heaven-sent product when they fit perfectly. When they don't fit, it can feel like loupes are the works of the devil. In my experience, most problems with loupes can be fixed right on the spot with just a small tweak to the right spot. Here I share with you the loupe adjustments that have consistently worked for me in the past.
I hope you enjoy your loupes with for years to come. These adjustments should only be done if you have Snap On Optics loupes. Lets get started...

TIPS FOR WHEN YOU SEE TWO CIRCLES
Step 1: Make a dot on a piece of paper the size of a pea.
Step 2: Look through your loupes at the dot. What does the dot look like?
Do you see just 1 dot that looks like this?
If so, GREAT. Your loupes are aligned. This is the ideal image alignment you want to achieve.
Do you see two dots where the two dots are one above the other?
When the loupes gives you this image, simply twist the frame so that one telescope looks up and the other one looks down. Do this as you are looking through the loupes. You will see the two dots merge into one. Overly bend in the desired direction and the frame will remember it's shape.
Do you see two dots side by side?
When the loupes gives you this image, simply bend the frame so that the telescopes converge more. Do this as you are looking through the loupes. You will see the two dots merge into one. Overly bend in the desired direction and the frame will remember it's shape.
Do you see two dots in a diagonal?
When the loupes gives you this image, simply twist the frame so that one telescope looks up and the other one looks down. ALSO, bend the frame so that the telescopes converge more. Ever had loupes that starts to fog up especially during the humid summer months? Every time you exhale the moisture has to go somewhere. If you have a mask on, the water vapors go up and into your loupe. This causes the loupes to fog up on you. The solution is simple. Just press the mask firmly on your nose and cheeks to form a moisture barrier. Then, slightly lift the bottom of the mask to let the moisture from every breath escape through the bottom of your mask. You will never have to worry about loupes or safety glasses fogging up on you again.
TIP FOR LOUPES THAT KEEP SLIPPING DOWN
Have you ever had loupes that slide down your nose and leave marks on your cheeks during an hour long procedure? The most obvious solution is to install a headstrap though this is not always comfortable or convenient. You have two more options. On all Snap On Optics loupes frames, you have adjustable the rubber paddles on the nose piece and adjustable rubber arms that make up the temple arms (that's the two rods on the loupe frame that goes behind your ears.) Just bend the rubber paddles on the nose piece towards each other and pull these paddles so they lift off of the frame a bit. Then bend the temple arms towards each other. Put the loupes on, you will notice the loupes fit more securely right away. You may still need to use the headstrap but you will only need to sinch it loosely from now on. What an improvement.
